Testimonials:

Students using Spectrophotometer at FHS:
Thank you to FACET for the Vernier UV-VIS Spectrophotometer! We had the opportunity to use the spectrophotometer the day it arrived!  Students used the equipment to evaluate the absorption of light with a sample of crystal violet photographic dye.  Forensic science students used it in a lab, simulating the testing done on a street drug that was collected from a suspect.  The spectrophotometer gives  students the opportunity to use the type of laboratory equipment found in a college setting.  I am looking forward to being able to use the equipment with my Advanced Placement Chemistry classes on several labs this year.

Thank you ,

Beth Burns

Excerpts from proposal submitted by Northside School Math Lab instructors:
Students come to the Math Lab for support in various domains, with varying degrees of need.  Our charge as Math specialists is to identify specific areas of weakness and then design and deliver appropriate, individualized instruction addressing the diverse needs of struggling learners.
Our request for Apple i-pads will greatly aid this individualized instruction.  Research-based applications will be used for targeted skill practice.  The Northside Math Lab provides small group instruction throughout the day and the i-pads would be an integral part of daily interventions, providing students with immediate feedback. Math specialists work on a daily basis to tailor lessons and motivate struggling learners...mobile technology engages students and has the potential to expand learning beyond the school day.
