Business of the Month
An organization which is well known among our greater Fairport community is the Fairport Baptist Homes. They have been honored as the Fairport-Perinton Chamber of Commerce November Business of the Month.
Fairport Baptist Homes, with more than a century of heritage, provides our community with independent housing, senior living, assisted living, rehabilitation, skilled nursing care and in-home care connections from Senior Options for Independence (SOFI). Their mission is to create a caring, vibrant and vital community, by constantly seeking to discover ways to enrich the lives of seniors and to live and work together as a community. Chamber Board of Director Kellie Wright reflected on this statement, “In many ways, our Chamber seeks to achieve some of the same types of accomplishments as does our Chamber member, Fairport Baptist Homes. The Chamber too, seeks to find better ways to work together, adding to the prosperity and health of our community, using our foundation as a strength on which to build. Specifically, one of their Core Values is their belief in the value of family and community. Our Chamber members live this too!”
Wright also cited the community involvement as a strength offered to the Fairport community through the Fairport Baptist Homes, “You will see people within our community representing Fairport Baptist Homes on the golf course, at wellness fairs, in active support of the United Way, along the annual Step Up for Seniors walk, and at Chamber events.”
Admissions Coordinator Nadine Arndt shared a touching story from one of the Homes’ residents, “A few years ago we met a woman who needed to move from her place of residence to receive needed care. She was unhappy about the decision and had the misconception that her life was over. She had always made sauce every Sunday for her family and it was upsetting to her, thinking that she would lose that tradition. When she arrived and saw how we’re set-up, with our household model of care and our full kitchens, she turned to her family and said, “Bring my pots and pans. I’m making sauce on Sunday!”
Chamber President Jim Bilotta stated, “Our Chamber is strengthened with tenured, continually growing, community-active businesses and organizations. The Fairport Baptist Homes is sure one of these examples on which we depend.”
