Business of the Month

July, 2019

Perinton Community Church, and their Pastor Tim Alexander, are being recognized as the July Fairport-Perinton Chamber of Commerce Business of the Month.

Chamber Board of Director Kellie Wright, owner of Golden Hello Company, said about Tim, “We are so thankful to have Tim as a Chamber member! He has done so much already for our all-volunteer organization. He has handled online tasks, helped prepare visuals for quarterly meetings, managed video equipment set-up at those meetings, to name just a few of his contributions. We always recommend active involvement to reap the benefits of the Chamber. I hope Tim is realizing rewards from his increasing level of participation!”

The Perinton Community Church (PCC), located at 636 High Street Extension in Fairport, is where Tim serves as the Senior Pastor. The church currently averages in the mid-200’s for their Sunday Worship service throughout the school year. PCC opened its doors in 1968 and Tim was called to serve the church six years ago this month, in 2013. Tim and his wife, Polly, came to Fairport from Nashville, Tennessee.

There has a been an intentional focus on encouraging members of PCC to serve the local community. The oft repeated phrase is, “One mile, three miles, five miles. Where you live. Where you work. Where you worship.” This challenge encourages members to serve in various ways: Meals on Wheels; teaching English As A Second Language; Tutoring; helping Refugees; partnering with established ministries such as opendoor Mission and Good News Jail Ministry. PCC opens the building to support Fairport-Perinton Little League Baseball, Football, and Girl Scouts. Perhaps the most unique and vibrant ministry is MOPS – “Mothers Of Pre-Schoolers.”  Two Fridays each month of the school year, young mothers are brought together for support and encouragement.

Tim joined the Fairport-Perinton Chamber, in part, because he wants to find specific ways to be engaged in his local community. Tim’s own application of the “one mile, three mile, five mile” challenge includes serving in the Chamber, involvement with Dudley School by joining the PTA and reading to students each week. Also, Tim is involved with both Perinton Church Housing and Elderwood Village at Fairport.

Tim shared, “2018 was a celebration of looking back 50 years through our church’s history. 2019 is about looking forward. Significant renovations to our building are in process and we are taking steps to develop a better Social Media presence.”
