Fairport & Penfield, NY:  Responding to expressed community interest, Taylor, a local General Contractor, is building on idle land along Whitney Road for multipurpose use.  Part of the development is affordable senior apartments, The Legends at Whitney Town Center.

Public officials, members from the Fairport-Perinton Chamber Board, Taylor management and business partners gathered at 650 Whitney Road to celebrate the turning of the shovel on this property.

The road to visual progress began in 2014 with the acquisition of land.  “I bought the property and then asked my family and management, ‘What are we going to do with this?’ Taylor CEO, Jim Taylor reflected.”

Current Perinton Town Supervisor Mike Barker had an answer.  Back in 2013, while campaigning for his position, Mike asked Perinton residents what they would like to see added to their community.  “Other than a Wegmans remodel, our Perinton neighbors wanted to see senior housing options.  They want to stay close to their communities in which they have spent their lives and have the option of down-sizing,” Mike shared.

What Taylor is going to do with this land has been unearthed.  On the street side of Whitney Town Center, construction for professional offices, medical services, casual dining and retailers is being developed. Directly north of this construction, the ground work is beginning for 151 new senior apartments, The Legends at Whitney Town Center.  “This will be a state-of-the art senior apartment community for active adults 55 and better,” shared Geoff Cook, Marketing Director at Taylor.

Jim Taylor praised the local and state government support they have enjoyed.  “They have worked with us to make this build happen,” acknowledged Jim Taylor.  Cheryl Dinolfo, Rich Funke, and Mark Johns echoed the benefit of the public and business communities working together.  Also, business partners Landers Management and Morgan Communities are contributors to this vision and were present for the celebration.

The Legends at Whitney Town Center is certainly an attractive and a highly anticipated Fairport treasure.  Completion of the project is set for spring of 2017.
