Ladybugs Play Opening Soon in Whitney Town Center

Ladybugs Play is excited to open in Whitney Town Center and join the Fairport/Perinton community.

Born and raised in Rochester, they know what a great place this is to raise a family. And as moms, they understand the need for adventure and have been inspired to offer families in our community a place to come together to play, connect, and have fun.

Ladybugs Play is a 2,500 square foot indoor play space designed specifically for children 7 and younger. The open concept was created with you and your child in mind; large enough for exploration and imagination, yet small enough for you to sit back and relax. Each piece of equipment was selected to provide our guests with a variety of experiences. Climb on the loft, play in the kitchen, create on the magnetic wall, build with Magnatiles, ride on the coasters, and so much more.

With construction nearly complete, they look forward to opening their doors to local families later in January. So stop in and join them - because play time should be enjoyable for all of you!

Fairport Swimming’s Marci Callan Inducted into the Fairport Education Wall of Distinction

Congratulations to Coach Marci Callan on her induction into the Fairport Education Wall of Distinction. Marci is currently in her 42nd year as the Head Coach of the FAST club and recently concluded coaching her 37th high school varsity season, all at Fairport. She is also the co-head coach of Fairport’s Modified Swim Team since its inception in 2000.

One reflective story told at the induction was about a Fairport High School student with extreme obesity, who was given an aquatics prescription by his doctor. Marci spent time working with this young man in the pool and within a month’s time, he lost 50 pounds and significantly lowered his blood pressure.

When Marci was a teenager at Shaker High School in Albany, NY, she was barred from swimming for their male only varsity swim team. She was only allowed to practice with them in spite of the fact she could beat many of the boys on the roster. This was prior to Title 9. Her life’s work focused on ensuring that all the girls she coached for over four decades would have the same opportunities as their male counterparts.

Additionally, Marci has been a recipient of Rochester’s prestigious Jean Giambrone Award, given to a female leader in local sports. She’s a USA Swimming Lifetime Member and has been a Volunteer of the Year recipient for the Niagara Swimming LSC.

Coach Marci’s motto is simple, “Be the first one there and the last one to leave.” She has positively influenced the lives of so, so many.
