From the Ruhland Team at Keller Williams Realty: The Crystal Ball is Cloudy!

THE RUHLAND TEAM Update: They have added two exceptional individuals to their TEAM this past year! Connor Cougle, Realtor, is a Buyer and Listing Specialist working with the team to help expand service to residential clients. Ian Stahl Is a Commercial Realtor, with Commercial Sales, Business Succession Planning, and Business Valuations for Business owners as strengths. Bob Ruhland shared, "I am truly thankful, proud, and excited for these high quality young men to be a part of THE RUHLAND TEAM. We are ALL here to help our business and residential clients succeed at the highest level."

REAL ESTATE: The Crystal Ball is very cloudy!!! Our Fairport/Perinton Community has experienced a hiccup in home sales activity when the Feds raised interest rates in the July, August, September time frame; however, our community continues to be in a very robust sellers' market. The interest rates did reduce the number of buyers ready to pull the trigger to buy, which in turn slightly increased days on the market with a slight leveling of home sale prices (of course depending on the homes list price point). Where are we going? Well, our community continues to be a high demand home purchase area as more and more buyers realize we live in a great community! We all volunteer, work and live to make Fairport/Perinton, in our minds, the best place in America to live and raise our children!

TOWN OF PERINTON ESTABLISHES COMMITTEE TO DETERMINE A PERMANENT MEMORIAL IN HONOR OF PERINTON RESIDENT & RPD OFFICER ANTHONY “TONY” MAZURKIEWICZ

Supervisor Ciaran Hanna announced that the Town of Perinton has established a committee for a permanent memorial in honor of Rochester Police Department (RPD) Officer and long-time Perinton resident Anthony (Tony) Mazurkiewicz. Recently, Hanna and Town Board Members Dave Belaskas, Seana Sartori, Meredith Stockman-Broadbent, and Alex Winner voted unanimously to establish the committee and appoint its members. The committee is tasked with exploring options regarding a permanent memorial in the Town of Perinton and making recommendations for the location and concept to the Town Board.

“Our community displayed an outpouring of community support and compassion following this tragedy, and it is our wish to establish a permanent memorial in the Town of Perinton to honor Tony’s life, memory, and service,” said Hanna. “Tony’s unwavering sense of duty and dedication is tied into the very fabric of our community, and a permanent memorial will help ensure his legacy lives on for generations to come.”

Tony Mazurkiewicz, a Perinton resident and 29-year veteran of the Rochester Police Department, honorably served the Rochester Police Department from April 12, 1993, until July 21, 2022, when he and his partner, Officer Sino Seng, were shot on Bauman Street in the City of Rochester. Officer Mazurkiewicz was transported to Strong Hospital, where despite heroic efforts, he passed away. He was married to his wife, Lynn, for 28 years and the proud father of four children and three grandchildren. Lynn is a staff member in the Town of Perinton Parks Department.

“Perinton is the place Tony and I married, where we raised our four children and proudly called home for almost 30 years. The love and support my children, Brooks, Bradley, Brent, Bryce, and I have received from the community we love so much has been nothing short of amazing. We are truly honored that Tony’s memory will be preserved in the community we have called home,” said Lynn Mazurkiewicz.

The committee consists of twelve members: Lynn Mazurkiewicz and a member of the Mazurkiewicz family, Town Supervisor Ciaran Hanna, Perinton Town Board Member Seana Sartori, RPD Investigator and County Legislator Paul Dondorfer, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Leah Larocque, Retired RPD Officer Antonio Jorge, Fairport Perinton Partnership Director Nancy Ragus, former Perinton Town Board member Peg Havens, and Perinton residents Brian Peets, Brian Reed, and Bob Cantwell.

Providing Opportunities for Entrepreneurs in Rochester

Since mid-2022, Edge Advertising Group has been involved with a new organization, Franchise ROC, deliverying digital, graphic design, copywriting, Public Relations, Social Media, and Event Planning services. The goal of Franchise ROC is to introduce Rochester City entrepreneurs and current business owners wishing to grow to the proven tools of franchising. Instead of losing 80% of business start-ups, Franchise ROC wants to save entrepreneurs time and money and earn success versus experience failure. Becuase Franchising involves a profile assessment to determine matches between personalities and available franchises, market study, location evaluation, capital information, training, and on-going field support from the Franchisor, earning success is more controlled. The first event was held in October with over 100 in attendance and virtually. Their January event boosted attendance to more than 350. March 7 is the next event. If you have interest in this effort, please contact Chamber Board member Diane McClure, 474-7173, Diane@EdgeAdGroup.com
