It's a frustrating and stressful time for those working from home. Now school has started and as we know, most schools are only in session 2 days a week. The rest of the time it's up to parents and caregivers to help teach. It's hard to stay relaxed and have a clear head with work deadlines and keeping your kids on task at the same time!!

That's where "What The Fruit Cup" comes into play!!! ( If you haven't' seen the commercial, it is brilliant!) Leadership teams need to be more innovative than ever to come up with ways to keep their staff members happy, positive and motivated while working from home! So how do you do this? Golden Hello Company has lots of ideas for you.

The Minuteman Press franchise is sponsoring a campaign to help businesses get back on their feet by creating a local website called Bounce Back Fairport. It’s a free community website where you can list your business and encourage shopping locally, so we can all recover quickly. Essentially, its free local advertising, with no strings attached. Go to https://bouncebackusa.minuteman.com/locations/ny/fairport/ where you will find our local page for this area.

Again, it is free and takes only a minute to list your business.

Fifty-five years of service has been clocked by Perinton Ambulance. In addition to serving our community's emergency-medical needs, the Perinton Ambulance staff is out and about in our community so our family members and neighbors become familiar with these care-takers, and learn from them too. For example, Beth Sardone, the Community Outreach Coordinator for Perinton Ambulance has facilitated 114 blood pressure clinics, given 102 lectures, hosts school tours, reads to classrooms of students, attends bike rodeos, and has attended 52 other communtiy events. Our community is fortunate to have the experience of the ambulance's President Jon LeRoy, serving our araa with 22 years of experience behind him. Read more, to plan to attend their May 23 event.

Last month, the Fairport-Perinton Chamber of Commerce named the Genesee Valley Penny Saver as its very first Business of the Month in 2020. The Fairport-Perinton Chamber of Commerce, which serves businesses well beyond Fairport Village, into Perinton, Bushnell’s Basin and Egypt, exists to help businesses succeed in today’s fast-paced world.  Just as the Chamber connects member and business acquaintances within these communities, the Genesee Valley Penny Saver helps to keep our communities connected.

In 1948, our Penny Saver was founded in a garage, by Roger and Jane Harrison, in Avon, New York. Their children have become active in the business with Steve Harrison as Publisher, and Kim Dougherty as Vice President. The business outgrew the garage space and now occupies four locations; however, Avon is still the hub and home to the largest of the four. It is in Avon that the papers are printed.

New York Businesses:  Are you ready for the Shield Act requirements?

This Spring, New York State's Shield Act (Stop Hacks and Improve Electronic Data Security Act) goes into effect. The Shield Act requires any business that owns or licenses computerized data which includes private information of New York residents to construct and maintain a prescribed threshold data security framework. Organizations impacted by the Shield Act should be assessing their data security policies and programs in light of the new law, which carries hefty penalties for non-compliance. MCCM, in association with CE Tech, Doyle Security and E Waste+ is offering a free seminar on how to become Shield Act compliant. The program is ideal for business owners and executives, as well as compliance, IT and HR managers.
